The election administration continues its active preparations for the October 4 municipal elections. Since September 4, 3,051 polling stations have been opened and are operating across the country.
As the spokesperson of the Central Election Commission, Natia Ioseliani, stated at today’s briefing, members of precinct election commissions have already begun distributing voter cards and informational flyers.
“Requests to make changes to the voter list can be submitted until September 16 inclusive. In order for voters to be able to exercise their right to vote smoothly and fully, the election administration once again urges them to check their personal data in a timely manner and find out where their polling station is located.
The election administration offers voters several services for verifying their data in the unified voter list. Verification can be done through the website voters.cec.gov.ge, self-service payment terminals, and the mobile application.
To use the mobile application, voters need to download Voters Georgia – Cesko, enter their personal ID number and surname in the relevant field, and then review their own and their family members’ data. The application also provides a map to locate the polling station address and shows where to vote on October 4.
It is noteworthy that voters living in regions compactly settled by ethnic minorities can verify their data in the unified voter list in Azerbaijani and Armenian languages on the CEC website (voters.cec.gov.ge). This is an important standard for ensuring equal opportunities.
We also remind you that an internally displaced person from the occupied territories of Georgia, whose registered address, according to the Georgian citizen’s ID card or the database of the Public Service Development Agency, is in the occupied territory of Georgia, will be entered into the unified voter list according to their actual place of residence.
As for a Georgian citizen who has been deregistered from their place of residence or whose registration has been declared invalid by the decision of the Public Service Development Agency, they will be entered into the unified voter list based on their last registered address or their actual (temporary) place of residence.
Georgian citizens who, according to the database of the Public Service Development Agency, do not have any address indicated will be entered into the unified voter list based on the actual (temporary) place of residence address existing in the electronic database of the Agency.
In addition, persons registered with only a legal address or without any address indicated must apply to the Public Service Development Agency (Justice House) to make corrections. Internally displaced persons must apply to the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia to change their actual residence address.
We call on voters who have been deregistered, whose registration has been invalidated, or who are registered without an address, to apply to the Public Service Development Agency by September 13 of this year, verify their data, and complete the necessary procedures to be able to participate in the elections. Otherwise, such voters will be entered into the unified voter list according to the last registered address or the actual (temporary) place of residence recorded in the Agency’s electronic database.
We remind you that in order to participate in the elections, a voter must present an electronic ID card or passport. In exceptional cases defined by law (e.g. due to health conditions), voting is also possible with a valid non-electronic ID card.
We also remind you about the procedures for requesting a mobile ballot box or an adapted/accessible polling station.
A voter who, due to health conditions, cannot come to the polling station building must apply to the precinct election commission no later than September 23 to request voting through a mobile ballot box. The mobile ballot box voting procedure starts at 09:00 and ends at 19:00. Voters who use the mobile ballot box will also be marked.
A voter using a wheelchair is entitled to vote at any adapted polling station within the territory of the relevant district election commission. To request an adapted polling station, they must submit a written or verbal application to the relevant district or precinct election commission no later than September 23. Updated information about adapted/accessible polling stations is available on the CEC website under the banner “Election Map”: https://ems-map.cec.gov.ge/.
The election administration once again urges voters to be active and check their data in the unified voter list. If you or your family members find inaccuracies in your data, please contact the election administration or the Public Service Development Agency to request corrections. For additional information, contact the CEC Contact Hub at 2 51 00 51,” – said Natia Ioseliani.
